Health contract

You have just bought a dog from Just Doodling Around.  We guarantee that our dogs will be free from any major genetic diseases for the first 2 years of their life.  We hope that all of our dogs will not get sick, and we test extensively before we breed, but sometimes there can be issues that were unforeseen that arise.  This guarantee below explains what we cover.

This is what this health guarantee covers:

* UP TO half of purchase price of the dog when covering treatment AFTER you have had abnormal tests from your veterinarian showing a genetic disease.  You must provide all test results and written diagnosis from your vet.  We do not cover testing leading up to the diagnosis of a genetic disease, or diagnostic testing.  It is your responsibility as a pet owner to make sure that your dog is taken care of, and that regular vet visits and vaccination schedules are followed, as well as your responsibility to test your dog in order to make sure it remains healthy. We reserve the right to have our veterinarian retest the puppy if needed.  This only covers reasonable treatment of genetic disorders, and is subject to a second opinion by a vet of breeder's choice.  This does NOT cover diagnostic testing.
* If it is determined that your dog is so sick that it needs to be put to sleep, we will offer the difference (minus the treatment costs) towards the purchase of another dog.
* We will not cover costs that don't demonstrate that this was a genetic disease, as there can be many factors that cause dogs to get ill, from environmental to puppy food, and once the puppy is home with you, we don't have control over your environment, food quality, and whether or not you follow the proper protocol for immunizations/health check ups.  Your vet will be asked to submit records showing that the pet was properly cared for, and was at the proper weight and height for its size, as well as any comments regarding its condition.
*We do not cover Addison's disease, giardia, coccidosis, or issues that are not major genetic diseases, or infections, hernias, hypoglycemia, improper bites, and viruses, as these are part and parcel of owning a pet.
* We are not responsible for your pet's behavior once it leaves our house, which includes any issues caused by the pet itself, such as bites or damage.

Your responsibilities:

* Take dog to vet within 5 days from bringing it home and have health check done.  If there is a chronic or serious health illness found, you will need to submit the written report from the veterinarian showing this information, as well as lab testing done.  Refer to above conditions to see what is covered. If this is done at the first visit (within the five day period), we will offer a full refund of the purchase price or a puppy replacement from the following litter.  We reserve the right to have the puppy retested by our veterinarian.
* Regular vaccination, deworming, and health checks by veterinarian on schedule
* Feeding of raw diet or approved low grain food.  We do not cover illnesses related to poor quality of dog food or diet.
* Puppy "proofing" to prevent puppy accidents, such as ingestion of antifreeze, household chemicals and so on.  We do not cover illnesses related to the dog ingesting foreign substances.
* To wait until a year to permit puppies in common areas that may have parvo in them.  Our vet recommends a full year to avoid any possible exposure to parvo.  This includes dog parks, common areas where other pets go to the bathroom, puppy schools, and backyards where there have been other dogs.  Parvo is a concern, and your puppy will come to you vaccinated against parvo, but it is your responsibility to protect him from any exposure.
* To "fix" your puppy by the end of seven months, and to send in proof of this to Just Doodling Around.

We do not cover regular pet testing and treatment for common pet ailments, such as uti's and worms, as pets can be exposed to these in kennels and from being around other animals.  Please remember that you have a responsibility as a pet owner, and that you need to protect your new puppy as you would a new baby.

We are not responsible for accidental death, dismemberment or other health conditions which are not in our control.

You will need to print out and sign this health guarantee and return it to the Breeder by the end of seven days after you have received the pet, or it will be considered void and the health guarantee will be void.
